St. Landry Parish deputies arrest man with nearly 1,000 bags of synthetic weed

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested 25-year-old Xavier Bush Jr. on Monday for being in possession of hundreds of synthetic marijuana packages that tested positive for a controlled dangerous substance.

On March 18, an officer made a traffic stop on Bush’s vehicle just west of Lawtell on Highway 190.

After searching Bush’s vehicle, the deputy found five trash bags filled with small baggies in the trunk. The number of packets totaled 986. They were then sent to the crime lab for testing.

According to police, the packets have various names, including King Kong, Atomic Bomb, Klimax, Hello Kitty, Scuby Snax, and others” and were labeled “not for human consumption.”

On March 26, detectives got the crime lab result showing that 625 of the baggies tested positive for a controlled dangerous substance.

Police issued a warrant for Bush’s arrest, and took him into custody on Monday, April 28.

Bush was charged with improper display of license plate and 2 counts of possession of schedule I drugs w/intent to distribute.
