Five fire officials in the last five years. That's the arrest tally for Webster Parish, after three of its top officials in two districts were arrested in the last month. The most recent is former Springhill chief David Camp, who is accused of scamming the district out of at least $7,000. The Webster Parish Sheriff's Office says Camp was allegedly using an unauthorized gas card for his personal vehicle and making unapproved purchases.

Last month, Cotton Valley's fire chief Dennis Meshell was arrested for felony theft, along with his assistant chief, Adam Hurley. That investigation began after officials say they received reports that Hurley was using department equipment to send nude photos of himself to an ex-girlfriend while on duty. During the investigation, though, they discoverd that Meshell and Hurley were using donation and reimbursement money to fund their own personal checking accounts.

Altogether, officials say Meshell and Hurley are accused of stealing $50,000 from the fire district. Meshell resigned on Tuesday, while Hurley remains on paid administrative leave. Camp, meanwhile, resigned as Springhill's chief after the allegations surfaced. All three men are free on bond.
