A Slidell area man is in the St. Tammany Parish Jail today after robbing a 15-year-old boy.

Kendrick Wise, 18, has been booked with one count of First-Degree Robbery and one count of Second-Degree Battery.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on January 22, the Sheriff’s office received a 911 call from the juvenile victim who reported having just been robbed.

Deputies arrived within minutes and located the boy standing in front of an abandoned residence on E. Hillcrest Dr. He indicated to deputies that he had been riding his bicycle in the area when he was approached by Wise.

According to the boy, Wise stated that he had a gun and demanded the boy’s backpack. Wise then punched the victim in the face, grabbed the backpack and fled toward the back yard of the abandoned residence.

The victim used a nearby pedestrian’s cell phone to call 911.

Responding deputies were familiar with Wise and were able to make phone contact with him through several known acquaintances.

Wise returned to the deputies’ location voluntarily. After Wise and the victim were both interviewed, Wise was transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. His bond has not yet been set.
