Shreveport Police apprehend suspect in purse snatching

SHREVEPORT, LA — A Shreveport man accused of committing a purse snatching in early June, was taken into custody by authorities on an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Back on June 10, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to the 1700 block of Alma Street relative to reports that a man had his wallet stolen by a suspect he reportedly let borrow a small sum of cash on a previous occasion. The victim advised authorities he met with the suspect, who agreed to return the money; however during the meeting which occurred in the 1700 block of Alma Street, the suspect allegedly forced the victim to the ground removing his wallet in the process.
The suspect, who through investigation was identified as Royrequis Hall, 33, was observed fleeing on foot after stealing the victim's wallet. Shreveport Police Robbery Detectives were successful in gathering information surrounding the crime which subsequently led to the procuring of a warrant for Hall’s arrest charging him with purse snatching.
For nearly two months, Hall remained at large while authorities continued their search for him. On August 6, officer’s efforts came to fruition as Hall was spotted by Shreveport Police Robbery detectives walking near a home located in the 1700 block of Michel Street. Authorities made contact with Hall, who on numerous times, resisted officers attempts to take him into custody. Following a brief struggle, police were able to take Hall into custody on the outstanding warrant.
Hall, who was booked into the Shreveport City Jail, now faces a single count of Purse Snatching and Resisting an Officer. Bond in the matter has been set at $100,000.
