SHREVEPORT, LA (KTAL) — A Shreveport officer is on administrative leave following a shooting that left a Bossier City man in critical condition.
The chain of events began around 3:30 Sunday morning when Christopher Duggan, 30, and another man left a nightclub. Duggan got behind the wheel of his truck.
Duggan allegedly hit a pole and a parked car in the alley between Texas Avenue and Milam with his truck.
Once on Spring Street, he hit another parked car and was stopped by two mounted patrol officers. Authorities say the driver held his foot on the brake and then accelerated the truck causing the back tires to spin.
The officers were in fear they were about to be run over so one of them drew a weapon and shot Duggan. He had to undergo surgery.
Duggan is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Vehicle on a Police Officer, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Reckless Operation of a Vehicle.
