Shreveport man dies in own home during home invasion

Shreveport Police are investigating the death of a local man shot inside his Highland house following a reported home invasion Monday morning.

At around 3:00 a.m.,officers were called to a home in the 3100 block of Holly Street on reports of a man who had been shot there. When authorities made it to the scene, police learned a man had a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Authorities detained of a person at the home, but he has not been named a suspect in the case.

Detectives were able to determine the shooting victim and another man were inside the house when two people, one armed with a handgun, entered the home in an attempted robbery. At some point during the heist, one of the robbers shot the victim.

Both robbers were only described as black males, who ran from the scene. No other injuries were reported.

At this early stage of the investigation, authorities are working to gather as much information as possible in efforts to identity and apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.
