Shooting suspect turns gun on himself in parking lot of Lafayette bar

LAFAYETTE, LA (NBC33) — A man shot himself in the chest after shooting a man in the parking lot of a Lafayette bar on West Congress Street.
The Lafayette Police Department says the incident happened at around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22. The suspect and the victim were involved in an argument inside of the bar. Things got heated and the two went out to the parking lot. That’s when the 44-year-old suspect pulled out a gun and shot the other man in the arm.
Officials tell us the suspect then turned the gun on himself. He allegedly shot himself in the chest.
Both men were transported to a local hospital. The victim with the gunshot wound to the arm is expected to recover. The suspect, however, is listed in critical condition.
This case is still under investigation.
