Someone shot and killed a man at an intersection close to Southern University during the Southern vs. Jackson State game.

Baton Rouge Police say Lawrence King, 22, died in his car from a gunshot wound.

It happened around 8:20 p.m. at the corner of Swan Street and Scenic Highway. Police believe Maurice Francis, 21, and King got into a fight. Witnesses stated that's when Francis allegedly opened fire.

Deshon Ruffin owns a barber shop only feet away from where the shooting happened, and he says that's too close for comfort.

"We didn't hear a gunshot," stated Ruffin. "I didn't even know. So when they said that, somebody called my phone, (and)was like 'Somebody got shot', I'm like 'Where?' 'Like right outside your barbershop'. I'm like, 'No, not right here'", stated Ruffin.
