Shooter in Laurel Street argument gives himself up to police

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Keith Landon, 67, was arrested and charged with Attempt Second Degree Murder for the shooting that occurred in the 1700 block of Laurel St earlier today.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man was shot in broad daylight on Laurel Street on Monday, Jan. 23. Shortly after the incident happened, the shooter called 911 to report his location.

A representative with the Baton Rouge Police Department says the incident happened around noon on Monday, Jan. 23. We’re told two men were involved in an argument around the 1700 block of Laurel Street.

Officials say things got heated and a man pulled out a gun and shot the other in the stomach.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. No status was given on his condition. However, we’re told the shooter called 911 shortly thereafter and alerted police to his location.

The man is currently being questioned by detectives.
