BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Things got out of hand this morning at the Mall of Louisiana due to the release of the hottest Nike shoes to hit the market this year.
The Nike Air Foamposite One Galaxy had hundreds of people lined up outside the mall before the break of dawn today.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says the extra deputies hired for crowd control weren't scheduled to arrive until 6:00 a.m., an hour before the sale started.
Deputies say by the time they got there, 600 people were pushing on the doors and the crowd was unruly.
Things got so out of control we're told the sale was cancelled and people weren't allowed back on mall property for an hour.
When everyone was let back in deputies arrested Keenan Andre Poret, 21, for allegedly cutting in line and making lots of people angry.
He was arrested on Inciting a Riot as well as Disturbing the Peace.
As for the rest of the customers, they were allowed into the mall, ten at a time, until all 200 Galaxy pairs were gone.
