Sheriff tracking armed bank robber

BATON ROUGE, LA —
CORRECTION: The suspect attempted to make entry at the Regions after the Chase bank and successfully entered the bank. When the teller saw the man was fully covered she yelled for him to leave. He fled out the back door and was last seen running south of Regions through an Ivy Park apartment complex.
ORIGINAL STORY: East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Detectives responded to a bank robbery at approximately 1:00 p.m. today at the Chase Bank located at 6170 Jones Creek.
According to reports, the man reportedly entered the bank armed with a pistol and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the bank on foot running south on Jones Creek.
The man was reportedly wearing a dark-colored camouflage hooded jacket, a black sheer-type face mask, dark gloves and black pants. He is described as approximately 6'2" with a slim build.
The man also reportedly attempted to enter the Regions Bank on Jones Creek, prior to Chase, but was unable to enter.
Detectives, deputies and K-9 have saturated the area looking for the suspect. Southeast Middle and Woodlawn Middle schools have been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
