ORIGINAL STORY: The third victim of a deadly home invasion in Gonzales passed away early today, Friday, March 2.
Shirley Marchand has been hospitalized since Saturday, Feb. 18. Marchland was the only survivor of the deadly home invasion. Her husband Robert Marchand, 74, and son Douglas Dooley, 50, were both dead by the time deputies made the discovery.
Ascension Parish deputies are still looking for the person who broke into the home. So far they believe valuable, rare coins were the motive. They say a safe containing the coins was stolen and has been recovered.
Sheriff Wiley, who knew Mrs. Marchand personally, said that he would like to publicly express his condolences to the Marchand and Dooley family, at “such a tragic and senseless loss.” Wiley added that he and the members of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, “will continue to devote the full measure of Sheriff’s Office resources toward bringing those responsible for the commission of this horrific crime to justice.”
Sheriff Wiley continues to urge anyone with information to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867). Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000.00 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of persons responsible for these murders.
