SCOTT, LA — On February 12, 2011, Scott City Police were dispatched to a robbery of the Family Dollar Store.
Upon arrival officers were informed by an employee that a black male suspect entered the store and after walking around the business placed some items on the counter to purchase. As the cashier began to ring up the items on the register the male suspect demanded all the money from the register or he would shoot the employee. The employee handed over the money and the suspect fled the scene on foot and could not be located by police.
A crime scene was secured and investigators with Scott City Police processed the crime scene to gather possible evidence.
In September of this year (2012) the Acadiana Crime Lab phoned Scott Police and advised that a DNA profile was obtained from the evidence gathered on scene. The suspect was identified as Chris Meredith, 36, of Opelousas.
On September 18, 2012 an arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of Chris Meredith on charge of First Degree Robbery. If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please contact the Scott Police Department at (337) 233-3715 or your local police department.
