Robbers break into elderly man’s home, hit him in the head several times

NEW IBERIA, LA (NBC33) — Deputies are seeking two men who allegedly broke into the home of an elderly man this morning and reportedly hit him in the head several times after demanding money.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4. We’re told the 79-year-old victim was sleeping in his home located on the 200 block of Live Oak Road. He told deputies that he was woken by a loud noise. Then, he noticed two men standing in his bedroom.
The victim continued to explain that the men demanded money from him. When he said that he did not have any money, the suspects allegedly used a blunt object to strike the man several times in the head.
The suspects managed to flee the home before deputies could be called. The victim did not see which direction they ran. They took an undisclosed amount of money.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his wounds.
Officials could not provide a description of the suspects at this time. However, they will release that information when it becomes available.
