A planned street fight turned into a shooting incident with both sides firing guns at each other. Of the four involved, two were taken to a local hospital for treatement. All were arrested.

The incident happened on Sunday, April 1 in New Iberia. We’re told two groups of men met at the 1000 block of Shot Street “with the intention of having an altercation.” The conflict escalated at somepoint and that’s when the two groups began firing guns at each other.

Two of the males received injures and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Four suspects were arrested on Monday, April 2.

Jabrison Kinchen, 19, is charged with Attempted Second-degree Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

Todd Romero, 21, is charged with Accessory to Attempted Second-degree Murder.

Jakeem Henry, 17, is charged with Accessory to Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The final arrest yielded even more charges outside of the original incident. Detectives and Narcotics agents conducted a search warrant on the residence of Leroy Charles, 21, and were able to locate a stolen handgun, marijuana packaged for individual sale, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Charles is charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Money Derived by Drug Proceeds and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All four were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and Detectives advise more arrests are expected to follow.
