Resident who killed home invader arrested for drug charges

Police have arrested the resident who shot and killed a home invader early this morning. However, the charges were not related to the shooting.

The Lafayette Police Department arrested Joseph Jean-Louis, 30, after he shot and killed an armed gunman who broke into his home during the early morning on Wednesday, June 5. He is charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substances and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

The gunman who was killed has been identified as Spencer James Francis, 43, of Lafayette. Investigators are still working to identify the second suspect who fled the scene before police arrived.
