A local man is behind bars facing serious charges in connection with a domestic dispute as well as a shooting that occurred earlier this year.

At approximately 5:38 a.m. on July 14, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a reported disorderly person call at an apartment home in the 7200 block of Bernstein Avenue. Once on scene, patrolmen contacted an adult female victim who advised them her ex-boyfriend, identified as John Pearson, 23, forced his way into her home by kicking in the front door. Following an altercation between the two inside the residence, Pearson fled the apartment prior to officer arrival.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Just moments later, responding officers located Pearson nearby and took him into custody without incident.

Upon further investigation, authorities discovered Pearson had a warrant outstanding for his arrest charging him with one count of Attempted Second-Degree Murder in connection with a shooting back in early April of 2012 in the 400 block of East 72nd Street.

According to information gathered by detectives, Pearson shot Shimar Wells, 27, in the right ankle following a dispute between the two men.

Pearson was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of home invasion, one count of Resisting an Officer and one count of Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
