Registered sex offender arrested spying on women in bathroom on LSU’s campus
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A 56-year-old registered sex offender was arrested after he allegedly went into a female’s restroom on LSU’s campus and was caught looking at women under the stalls.
According to the arrest report, the LSU Police Department was contacted on Monday, Sept. 16 by a female who reported that a man had entered the restroom in the school of music building.
The woman told the officer that she witnessed a man place a piece of cardboard at the base of the stall he was in to block the lower, open portion. He then used a mirror to look under the stalls.
“The complainant advised that when there were several elementary, middle school, and high school aged females in the building on this evening and several had entered the restroom during the time period in which this subject was in the restroom,” the arrest report noted.
Roughly 30 minutes later LSU Police received another call from a business located on Chimes Street. The caller said described the suspect they were looking for and said he was currently in the courtyard of the business.
When the officer arrived on scene, the witness said the suspect was located in the alleyway. When the officer approached him, he allegedly attempted to run, but the officer caught him after a struggle.
The officer identified the suspect as Michael Lee Jackson. Another officer assisting with the investigation recognized him because he recently banned Jackson from LSU’s campus after an incident involving a tailgate party.
When an officer searched Jackson he found a small mirror, which they believe he used to peep under the bathroom stalls. They also retrieved a piece of cardboard from the bathroom in the business where he was last seen.
The witnessed positively identified Jackson as the person she saw in the restroom at the school of music.
After further investigation officers learned that Jackson has prior arrests including obscenity, video voyeurism, and peeping tom. His last prior arrest was in February 2013 for Obscenity.
Jackson was arrested and charged with Peeping Tom, Resisting Arrest by Flight, Remaining After Being Forbidden, and Battery of a Police Officer. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond was set at $11,000.
