Prarieville, La (NBC33) — Ascension Parish Sheriff Deputies arrested the mother of a two-year-old child who drowned in a pool.

Fallon Gautreau, 22, is charged with child desertion.

Deputies say Fallon allegedly left her two-year-old playing with other kids near a swimming pool, while she went to the store.

When she returned, she found the child in the pool.

The child remained on life support for two days and died at the hospital.

Gautreau is out on bond tonight.
