GONZALES, LA (NBC33) — A 26-year-old man from Prairieville was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed a man during an argument at a home in Gonzales.
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at roughly 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17. We’re told the victim, Jules Bennett Weil, 34, of St. Amant, was found in vehicle located on Cannon Road. He was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Weil was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his injury.
Investigators learned that Weil was involved in an argument with David Adams, Jr. prior to the shooting.
“[The two men] were visiting a relative of Weil’s at the Cannon Road residence. During the visit Adams became agitated with Weil not wanting to leave with him,” Allison Hudson, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, said in a press release. “Weil eventually agreed to leave with Adams and seconds after the two left in Adams’ truck, witnesses heard gunfire.”
Adams fled the scene on foot but was located a short time later. He was arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder.
