An armed robbery suspect was tased by police early this morning after he allegedly resisted arrest.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the attempted robbery happened at the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on Plank Road shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27. We’re told the suspect, Dominic Thomas, 23, was caught by officers.

“The suspect resisted the officer and would not obey commands,” Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, Baton Rouge Police Department, explained. “It was in our best interest to tase him. Luckily we did because when he fell to the ground a gun dropped from his waste band.”

Thomas was arrested and charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Resisting Arrest.

None of the employees were injured during the robbery.
