Police searching for armed gunman who disarmed security officer, robbed bank

Police are searching for an armed gunman who robbed the Regions Bank located on Plank Road.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident happened at roughly 10:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

“An unknown black male entered the bank with a gun and managed to disarm the security guard,” Cpl. Don Coppola, BRPD, said. “He then obtained an unknown amount of money and fled the scene. No one was injured.”

Officials were unable to provide a description of the suspect due to the status of the investigation. However, we will update this link with new information as soon as it is provided.

The suspect is identified as a black male, dark complexion, mid 20’s to early 30’s, 5’10” to 6’0” in height, stocky build (200 – 230 lbs) with possibly a goatee. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, a green polo style shirt, blue jeans with a light colored baseball cap.
