Police looking driver of dump truck who caused fatal crash on I-12 near Airline

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A 74-year-old woman died in a crash on I-12 yesterday afternoon, and police are looking for the hit-and-run driver believed to have caused it.
Ethel Phillips was transported to the hospital on Tuesday, July 2 with critical injuries after the vehicle she was traveling in was hit by a dump truck, then an 18-wheeler. The crash happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. in the westbound lane near the Airline exit.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. A second person was in the vehicle with Phillips. We’re told that person sustained minor injuries.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the dump truck did not stop, so they are actively seeking information from the public.
