BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a reported robbery at the Cash in a Flash on North Blvd. By the end of the investigation, detectives discovered that the incident was all a scam by a store employee.
BRPD arrived at the Cash in a Flash just before 8 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8. The store’s clerk, Lakisah Hunter, 33, said that a white male, between the ages of 30-40 years old and a pregnant white female came into the store. She told detectives that the male pulled out a gun and demanded money. Hunter said she gave the man money, but then he struck her in the head with the gun and kicked her in the knee. She said the man and woman then ran out of the store.
Hunter was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injury. BRPD detectives later followed up with more questions, then she admitted to lying about the whole ordeal. She said that her injury was actually caused from a fall that happened at the store.
Police say only part of the stolen money has been recovered.
Lakisha Hunter was booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Felony Theft.
