Police arrest 7 teens, adult for Bayou Vista burglaries

Eight young people are now in the St. Mary Parish jail for breaking into homes in Bayou Vista.

Traci Landry, a sheriff’s spokesperson, says the arrests solve four burglaries that happened on Teche Road, David Road, Canal Road, and Sunset Avenue in mid-August 2014.

Detectives recovered $2,100 in stolen property and arrested the following:

Caleb Gros, 17, of, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 11:20 pm for three counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

Juvenile male, 16, of Patterson, LA was arrested on August 28, 2014 at 2:38 am for simple burglary. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Callen Slay Richard, 17, of, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 28, 2014 at 5:19 am for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

Ryan Boudreaux, 19, of, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 28, 2014 at 3:44 am for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. No bail is set.

Layne Arnaud, 18, of, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 28, 2014 at 4:20 am for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. No bail is set.

Brittany Morgan, 23, of, Patterson, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 8:11 pm on a warrant for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. No bail is set.

Kaleb Calloway, 17, of Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 28, 2014 at 12:22 am for:
- Warrant for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling
- Possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute
- Transactions involving drug proceeds
- Resisting an officer
No bail is set.

Damarcus McNeal, 17, of, Morgan City, LA on the charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

Landry says the Gros, Richard, Boudreaux, Arnaud, and the juvenile were responsible for the burglary on and Sunset Avenue.

Investigators also say Gros broke into the two homes on Teche Road and David Road.

Gros and Richard are now in the Berwick Police Department pending additional charges from an ongoing investigation into burglaries in Berwick.

Morgan, Calloway, and McNeal allegedly broke into the home on Canal Road.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert thanked the Bayou Vista community for reporting suspicious activity which helped solve the crimes.
