The Houma Police Department has arrested one teen and is seeking another for several robberies in the area. They say the suspects used Craigslist as a way of scamming victims into the situation.

Over the past month and a half the Houma Police Department has been investigating several robberies occurring on the Eastside of Houma where various victims were attempting to purchase items over the Internet via “Craigslist”. The items the victims were attempting to purchase were various electronics ranging from cell phones to laptop computers.

During the course of these investigations, detectives developed a pattern where victims reported talking to an individual(s) via text to set up purchases and arrangements were made to meet the suspects within the area of Tulane Street. Once the victim arrived, several black male subjects approached them where a weapon was brandished and the victims would have their personal items taken.

During the course of the investigation, Houma Police detectives developed suspects regarding this incident and were able to identify Ty’Rell M. Williams, 17, as one of the suspects. Detectives learned through various investigative techniques that the conversations with the victims were conducted via Ty’Rell M. Williams’ cell phone.

On Thursday, June 19, Houma Police detectives located Ty’Rell M. Williams within the 100 block of Tulane Street and apprehended him without incident. Ty’Rell M. Williams was transported to the Houma Police department where he was ultimately arrested for one count of Principle to Simple Robbery and one count Principle to Armed Robbery.

As a result of this investigation Houma Police detectives developed a second suspect, Kevionontae Ross, 18, as being a participant in one of the incidents. Houma Police detectives have issued arrest warrants for Kevionontae Ross for one count Simple Robbery). It is believed that Kevionontae Ross is responsible for other incidents within the area as well. Houma Police detectives believe Kevionontae Ross is staying at various locations and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Houma Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.

Law enforcement is continuously investigating these incidents to see if any additional suspects are responsible. Information can also be relayed to law enforcement via the Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433 or www.crimestoppersbr.org.
