A 40-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly robbed two businesses, stabbed someone in the neck with a box cotter, and took police on a high speed chase.

The Mandeveille Police Department reports that the incident started on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at roughly 11:00 p.m. While police were investigating a reported robbery at the Taco Bell located on Florida Street, they received a call about another robbery located a short distance down the street.

When officers arrived to the Exxon station, they found a victim suffering from a stab wound to the neck. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The victims were able to provide a description of the vehicle. A short time later, a police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Officials say the vehicle sped off and a chase ensued. Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the troopers with the Louisiana State Police assisted.

The chase came to an end when the suspect, Johnathon Leger, crashed his vehicle into a tree. He allegedly jumped out of the car and tried to run away, but he was apprehended shortly thereafter.

Leger was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, and Armed Robbery (2 counts). He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Prison.
