Person of interest for murder of woman found shot dead by investigators

UPDATE: The female who was found deceased in the apartment in the 1300 block of West University Avenue has been identified as Victoria Neely, 27, of Lafayette, La.

The male who was found deceased in the residence located at Lamar Street and Cleveland Street is identified as David Brannon, 38, of Duson, La. Detectives believe the male is deceased from a self inflicted gunshot.

The incidents and the relationship of the two deceased are still under investigation.

 

ORIGINAL: A man was found shot to death night and believe he is responsible for shooting and killing a woman hours prior to his death.

The Lafayette Police Department reports that the woman was found shot to death inside her home located in the 1300 block of West University Ave. She was discovered shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

After interviewing witnesses, police established a person of interest for the shooting. Detectives were told that person was possible at a home located at the corner of Lamar Street and Cleveland Street.

When officers went to investigate, they found the person of interest dead. He had been shot.

Investigators believe the two incidents are related but have not provided any additional details regarding the investigation. However, they are investigating both cases as homicides. The names of the victims have not been released.
