BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- On Feb. 24, a man walking near the Highway 30 exit on Interstate 10 was hit by multiple vehicles and killed.

Investigators began shortly after midnight, when a 2001 Dodge Caravan hit a male, who was later identified as Royric D. Perry, 29.

Louisiana State Police Troop A determined that Perry was already lying in the right lane of Interstate 10 eastbound when stuck by the van, thus leading them to believe that Perry had already in hit by another vehicle in the left lane.

The driver of the Caravan immediately pulled over and called authorities after hitting Perry. Both the driver and passenger were detained by officials and submitted to a brethalyzer test. They were confirmed by State Troopers to have no alcohol in their system.  Neither them had any injuries.

Police officials believe Perry was hit by multiple vehicles, both before and after the Caravan hit him; they are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500.
