Capital Area Reentry Coalition (CapARC) will host "Cease the Crime, Reduce Recidivism," a five-person panel forum to promote awareness of high crime and recidivism rates in Louisiana. The event will take place at LSU on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the D. Jensen Holliday Forum in the Journalism Building.

The forum will provide an open dialogue about potential solutions to help government and nonprofit organizations develop initiatives to better Louisiana communities.

Jim Engster, Baton Rouge’s NPR broadcaster, will serve as the moderator.

The forum speakers are: James Windom, executive director of CapARC, Edward S. Shihadeh, professor and chair of the LSU Sociology Department; Cecile C. Guin, director of the Office of Social Service Research and Development at LSU; Peter Scharf, adjunct professor at the Department of Global Health Systems and Development at Tulane; La. House Rep. Patricia Smith; and James Windom, executive director of CapARC.

The event will be catered by Kona Grill and is open to the public.
