Opelousas man accused of aggravated kidnapping, rape

A man was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in the Opelousas area. The suspect approached the victim while she was walking alone to her home.

The victim stated that she was walking home at around 3:00 a.m. near the Broussard Street area in Opelousas when she first observed a white pick-up truck following her. The victim stated that the suspect then chased her on foot and forced her inside of his vehicle. The victim then stated that the suspect then drove his vehicle out of the city limits to two different locations near the Plaisance area where the apparent rape may have taken place.

Investigators were able to identify Chonquaro Green, 35, of Opelousas as a possible suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest. He was picked up on Saturday, July 21 and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Rape.

Green is still being held without bond at the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office Jail.
