Opelousas convenience store owner, cashier arrested for selling synthetic marijuana
Opelousas, LA (NBC33) — Police arrested a convenience story owner and a cashier on Tuesday, July 15, after investigating reports about the sale of synthetic marijuana.
Agents with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Alcohol and Tobacco control raided Singh’s Quick Stop on Country Ridge Road in Opelousas on Tuesday.
Agents made several purchases over the counter, providing enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for the owner and cashier.
Store owner Beant Singh, 53, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on charges of distribution of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance and principal to distribution of a schedule I CDS.
The cashier, Daphane Lavergne, 38, faces charges of distribution of a schedule I CDS.
