Online predator arrested in Lafayette

Lafayette, La (NBC33) — A Baton Rouge man is locked up after state police say he drove to Lafayette to meet someone he thought was a 14 year-old girl.
State police say James Smith, 29, had been talking to and sending explicit pictures to who he thought was a young teenage girl. In fact, he had been in contact with undercover officers.
Smith was arrested upon arrival in Lafayette.
This arrest is part of Operation Child Watch, which focuses on online predators.
