One shot in the back during Lafayette street fight

LAFAYETTE, LA — On May 20, 2012, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of West Second Street regarding a large fight. Police discovered the victim, a 20 year old male of Carencro, had suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper back.
The victim advised that a large fight occurred and when the two parties separated he heard a single gunshot. He advised he was struck in the upper back. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries.
The suspect fled the area.
At approximately 3:44 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to a parking lot in the 1100 block of North University Avenue regarding a shooting. Police discovered that the victim had just engaged in a verbal argument with two black males occupying a newer model silver Ford Mustang.
As the victim walked away from the vehicle, one of the suspects fired one shot, striking the victim in the right leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries. The suspects fled the area in the vehicle.
