EBR Sheriff's Detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday at 9143 Ridge Pecan Drive in Baton Rouge. The crime scene is near Bluebonnet and Burbank. We're told one man is dead, the other injured. Detectives have not released any other details. No word if anyone has been arrested.

Update: Neighbors told NBC33 they heard gunshots early this morning. Kathleen Abernathy lives in the apartment complex where the shooting happened. She says she was in her bedroom when she heard something that sounded like firecrackers. She thinks 2 shots were fired.

While detectives haven't released a motive Abernathy believes the shooting was drug related. "The last couple 3 months I've had trouble at my apartment. Lots of drug activity," says Abernathy. "People come to these apartments to buy drugs all day and night. It never stops."

Abernathy says she's called 911 several times in the past to report possible drug deals in apartment 'A' where the shooting happened. She says she's seen her neighbor who survived the shooting accept money in the apartment and in the parking lot.

Abernathy says deputies tried to set up a sting in her apartment complex in the past, but nothing ever happened. "Every 911 call made concerning this apartment was from me. I'm tired of it."

NBC33's Lauren McCoy is on scene. She'll have more on this developing story as deputies release new information.
