One arrested, one at large for Lafayette shooting

A man has been arrested and another is at large for their involvement in a recent Lafayette shooting.

On May 19 at approximately 10:20 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to gunshots at the intersection of South Orange and 8th Street.

Officers were approached by a male victim that said he was inside of his vehicle when two suspects fired 4-5 shots in the direction of his vehicle. During the course of the investigation, officers developed two suspects in the incident. 

The first suspect, Joshua Damond, 21, of Lafayette, was located and arrested. Damond was charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder. Police also located a weapon in Damond’s possession believed to have been used in the shooting.

The second suspect, Lensley Johnnie, 28, was identified and a warrant has been issued for Principle to Attempted Second-Degree Murder.

The victim was not shot during the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lensley Johnnie to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 337-232-TIPS (8477).
