One arrested for weekend shooting on Bourbon Street
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU-CNN) — One of the three men believed to be connected with the quadruple shooting on crowded Bourbon Street on Saturday night was arrested Monday.
Police said they are still seeking a person of interest in the shooting.
Deron Bridgewater, 23, of Marrero, turned himself in to detectives Michael Flores and Ryan St. Martin of the Eighth District after he saw himself on TV last night. Police said that Bridgewater, who has no prior criminal record in Orleans Parish, is cooperating with detectives in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities believe Bridgewater and two other men were involved in an argument with the victim prior to gunshots erupting in the 400 block of Bourbon Street.
Four people were taken to the hospital, and three have been released. The intended victim remained in stable condition at the hospital on Monday night.
Police said they are looking for a second person of interest, who is known only by "Landon." Detectives believe he has information that is critical to the case.
"We also want to stress we do not believe this was a random shooting," said NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas. "We believe that there was a scuffle of sorts between these people and the victim."
By Monday morning, the scene on Bourbon Street was much different, with rain keeping the crowd size down. Those who ventured out said the shooting wasn't going to stop them from experiencing Mardi Gras and the famed Bourbon Street.
