One arrested for fatal shooting in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, LA — On Wednesday, June 27 at approximately 1:18 a.m., the Lake Charles Police Department responded to the intersection of Enterprise Blvd. and 3rd Street in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival in the area, Officers located a 30 year old black male victim that sustained gunshot injuries at the intersection of Enterprise Blvd. and 9th Street.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officer Scott Dougherty located the suspect, Maurice Nelson, 33, between 9th and 10th Street, where he was subsequently arrested.
Nelson was later booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted Second-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number. Nelson’s bond was set at $525,000.
