NOPD officer placed on emergency suspension without pay
New Orleans (NBC33) — The New Orleans Police Department placed officer Christopher Carter on emergency suspension without pay following an investigation of domestic abuse by the Public Integrity Bureau.
The investigation began January 27, 2014 after PIB received a complaint. As a result of the investigation, Carter, a 10 year veteran, was placed on administrative reassignment on May 25.
On July 14, the NOPD filed a Bill of Information on Carter in conjunction with the PIB investigation.
Carter faces charges for domestic abuse battery involving strangulation and domestic abuse battery.
The PIB investigation is on-going.
