The search for an alleged kidnapper, that spanned several area parishes in the overnight hours has ended, but the alleged victim remains missing, according to Sabine Parish Sheriff Ronny Richardson.

Richardson says, 34-year-old Robert Barthelemy, a Natchitoches police officer, was arrested in the early morning hours on Wednesday after leading authorities from several parishes, as well as Louisiana State Police, on a high speed chase.

Barthelemy was wanted out of Sabine Parish on a felony aggravated kidnapping warrant.

Sheriff Richardson tells NBC 6's Dan Jovic that the warrant stemmed from surveillance video recorded by a home owner just east of Many, Louisiana, which showed Barthelemy allegedly removing 25-year-old Tony Procell from the home at gun point.

The alleged incident took place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, but the home owner did not notify police of the incident until watching the surveillance tape after returning to the house late Tuesday night.

According to Sheriff Richardson, Procell remains missing at this time. Numerous police agencies are searching for Procell in the area of I-49 and State Route 177.

Richardson says Barthelemy's cell phone usage was tracked and eventually led to police spotting him along I-49.

He then led police on a high speed chase early Wednesday morning that at one point had he and authorities driving the wrong way on I-49.

Barthelemy was eventually arrested along 177.

DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle tells Jovic that Barthelemy initiated an armed stand-off with authorities along 177. Sheriff Arbuckle says the stand-off lasted nearly two hours before Barthelemy's arrest.

Barthelemy is currently being held at the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office on the aggravated kidnapping charge.
