Multiple drug arrests made after home invasion shooting lands man in hospital

UPDATE: Nathan Braud has been arrested. He was arrested last night. He is currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish Jail.

ORIGINAL: Five arrests have been made after police searched the home of a man who was shot and found large quantities of drugs.

On October 10 at approximately 1:50 a.m.. Ascension Parish authorities went to a local hospital in reference to an individual suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies identified the victim as Brent “Smoke” York, 34, of Gonzales.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that York had several people at his home when multiple armed subjects entered the residence demanding money. Shots were fired, which resulted in York being struck. 

When deputies searched York’s residence they found a large quantity of drugs, including 5.5 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, xanax and ecstasy (MDMA).

Investigators learned that Krystal Cedotal, Cody Brown, Sasha Desormeaux, and Nathan Braud were all present at the residence at the time the home invasion took place.

It was also learned that Cheryl Morris, an acquaintance of York’s, went to the residence immediately after the shooting and cleaned the blood from the home, altering the crome scene.

Brown, 28, of Port Vincent, was arrested and charged with Distribution or Manufacture With Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS, two counts Possession of Schedule I CDS, two counts Possession of Schedule III CDS, Possession of Schedule II CDS, and Possession of Schedule IV CDS. His bond has been set at $85,000.

Cedotal, 28, of Livingston, was arrested and charged with Distribution or Manufacture With Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS, two counts Possession of Schedule I CDS, two counts Possession of Schedule III CDS, Possession of Schedule II CDS, and Possession of Schedule IV CDS. Her bond has been set at $85,342.50.

Desormeaux, 34, of Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with Distribution or Manufacture With Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS, two counts Possession of Schedule I CDS, two counts Possession of Schedule III CDS, Possession of Schedule II CDS, and Possession of Schedule IV CDS. Her bond has been set at $72,085.

Morris, 50, of Pineville, was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice (altering crime scene) and a bench warrant for Failure to Appear in court. Her bond has been set at $5,000.

All were booked on October 10 in the Ascension Parish Jail.

Investigators are still in the process of identifying a female and three male suspects that are responsible for the home invasion and shooting. During the home invasion, the male suspects identified themselves as “POLICE” and two were armed with handguns and one with a shotgun. One of the suspects was wearing a “Jokers Mask.” 

Investigators have also obtained an arrest warrant on Nathan Braud, 44, of St. Amant who remains at large.

York remains in the hospital and his wounds are not life threatening. He will be facing criminal charges upon his release from the hospital. This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending.
