MONROE, LA (NBC33) — A Monroe woman was locked up after she allegedly violently attacked her mother. The incident happened after the suspect reportedly smoked PCP.
On Tuesday, June 19 deputies with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on Harding Drive. When they arrived they quickly arrested the suspect, Rene Roshanda Harris, 35.
The arrest report indicates that the altercation happened at around 8:00 p.m. Harris allegedly drug her mother out of her house by her hair and struck her in the head with a metal object, causing her to black out.
When the victim awoke, she claims Roshanda was on top of her strangling her with her hands, causing her to black out once again.
The arresting deputy says two individuals witnessed the attack. They say Harris was “wet” from smoking PCP. Harris also yelled profanities regarding her mother while the deputy was on scene. He also noted that the victim had several “scratches and red marks around her eyes, face and throat area.”
Once placed under arrest, Harris reportedly became increasingly irate. The arrest report says Harris “claimed she wanted to kill herself” and that once placed in the vehicle she “beat her head against the glass violently many times and attempted to kick out the window.”
While being transported, Harris allegedly continued to “curse, yell and spit.” When she was booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center, she was restrained and placed in a padded cell.
Harris was booked on charges of Aggravated Second-Degree Battery, and Probation Violation. Harris has a prior criminal history that includes arrests for two counts of Second-Degree Murder, Shoplifting, Battery and Aggravated Battery.
