Monroe man arrested for extorting LA Representative over marijuana laws
BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — Louisiana State Police arrested a Monroe man on Thursday for extorting a Louisiana State Representative over marijuana law reform.
Police got a complaint about the email from the representative’s Baton Rouge office.
Roy Green, 31, of Monroe allegedly sent an email stating that if the representative did not support marijuana law reform, he “would personally see to it that your office and livelihood are placed into danger.”
During questioning Green told investigators that he did not remember sending an email but that he did post the message on Facebook.
Green was charged with extortion and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.
He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
