Men flee license checkpoint, one arrested on drug charges

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA — One man has been arrested and another has warrants out for his arrest after the two fled from a checkpoint.
On December 23, 2012, a deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sherif's Office was conducting a driver’s license checkpoint at the intersection of North 11th Street and Forest Lane.
They saw a tan Chevrolet Lumina approaching the intersection. The driver identified himself as Stanley Jordan, 22. However, he was unable to provide a drivers license or identification. The passenger provided a Louisiana Identification card identifying himself as Damon Christopher Gibson, 21.
While deputies were verifying the subjects' identity, the driver placed the vehicle in reverse and began backing west on Forest lane at a rapid speed, losing control of the vehicle approximately 120 yards from the intersection and landing the car in a ditch.
Both occupants exited the vehicle and began running north on Forest Lane. Deputies soon apprehended Gibson, while Jordon escaped on foot.
Gibson was found to be in possession of two clear plastic bags, one contained a small amount of marijuana and the other bag contained 19 pieces of crack cocaine.
While searching the suspect’s vehicle, they located a clear plastic bag containing seven smaller clear plastic bags, each containing marijuana.
Gibson was then transported to Parish Jail and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS 1, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS 2, and Resisting Arrest by Flight.
Arrest warrants were issued for Stanley Quinton Jordan for Possession with intent to distribute CDS 2 and Resisting arrest by flight.
