Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has made an arrest in a case involving an obscene amount of fraudulent claims on March 17.
Chanci S. Shaw, 36, has been accused of falsifying both the Medicaid provider agreement and the Medicaid application form for an Opelousas health care agency. She also submitted 50 claims in 2009 alone, even after she knew her application wasn’t legitimate.
She has been charged with 50 counts of Medicaid fraud and three counts of filing false public records.
If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison for each count of fraud.
