Mardi Gras shooting: One man injured in Labadieville

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Jamiah Harris has turned himself in. He has been booked with Attempted Second Degree Murder and is currently being hleld at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The shooter in an incident during a Mardi Gras parade has been identified as Jamiah Harris, 19, of Labadieville, LA.

A warrant is out for his arrest in conjunction witht he shooting. Detectives have been unable to locate the suspect at this time.

The Krewe of Xanadu parade is marred by gunfire.

Two shots were fired yesterday evening around 7:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Brule Road, with one striking a 21-year old Paintcourtville man in the thigh. The man received medical attention at the scene and was then rushed to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for further treatment. He is currently in stable condition.

The suspect in the shooting is a man in his late teens to early 20’s. He has a skinny to medium build and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the shooting.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the motive behind the shooting. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the department at 985-369-2912.
