Mandeville man threatens to shoot estranged wife
Mandeville — David Lockhart, 46, of Mandeville, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 4, after threatening to murder his estranged wife.
At about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, police received a frantic 911 call from a woman claiming that her estranged husband was trying to force his way into her house with a gun and that he was going to kill her.
As officers arrived on scene and entered the home, they could hear the woman screaming from the second floor, begging her husband not to shoot her.
Deputies located Lockhart and his estranged wife in an upstairs bedroom.
They were able to intervene and take Lockhart into custody without further incident.
The victim was not physically injured in the incident.
Police also recovered a loaded hunting rifle that Lockhart tossed under the bed just before officers detained him.
Lockhart was booked into the Saint Tammany Jail on charges of Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Domestic Abuse Battery, and Criminal Damage pursuant to a 911 call.
