A man facing jail time decided to add a few more charges to the list after fleeing from court, then car jacking someone to get away.

The Crowley Police Department is currently tracking down Layton Hamilton, 28, of Rayne. We’re told Hamilton was set to attend court on Thursday, June 21. Officials say he ran out of the Parish Court House and car jacked someone a block away.

Hamilton is accused of jumping into an occupied vehicle and demanding that the driver flee the area. The driver complied. After several blocks Hamilton allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers have not yet located Hamilton. However, his charges now include Simple Kidnapping.

Hamilton is 5’2” in height, weighing 120 pounds.

If you have any information regarding Hamilton’s location, call the Crowley Police Department at (337) 788-4114.
