Man wanted by LSU Police arrested after tip received; additional charges added

BATON ROUGE, LA — A man that was wanted by LSU Police was located and arrested on campus. Scott Edward Michelli, age 43 of Baton Rouge, was arrested on a warrant for Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business. Michelli was also arrested for Theft of a Bicycle (felony) and Possession of Stolen Property. Michelli was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
On October 29, 2013 LSU Police received a report that a subject was found to be using a room in Patrick F. Taylor Hall, located on the LSU Campus, without permission from the University. Upon locating the subject’s property, it is believed that other potential stolen items were discovered. Two of those items were brand new polo style shirts with embroidered logos and confirmed to have been stolen. That subject was identified as Michelli.
On November 4, 2013 LSU Police Investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Michelli for the charge of Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business. A flyer identifying Michelli and the charge was distributed to the LSU Community and media.
On November 5, 2013 at approximately 4 pm, LSU Police received a call from a member of the LSU Community who stated that they had seen a subject they believed to be Michelli near South Campus Drive and Highland Road. They caller was able to give a detailed description of the subject and that he was riding a bicycle. Officers located the subject on Highland Road and positively identified him as Michelli. He was then placed under arrest and brought to the LSU Police Department. Further investigation revealed that the bicycle had been reported to LSU Police as stolen on October 14, 2013 from Allen Hall.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be added as a result.
