19-year-old Eric Son Tran took Lake Charles Police on a high speed chase across state lines.

At 4 a.m. on January 8, the Lake Charles Police Department received a report of a man trying to break into a car, from a L’Auberge Casino customer.

Lake Charles Police say, three officers responded to the casino’s parking lot, where the witness directed them to the suspect’s car.

The officers approached and Tran (the suspect) sped off, across the parking lot.

Officers immediately followed in pursuit. Tran soon merged on to Interstate 210 and then headed westbound on Interstate 10 towards Texas.

During the chase police say, Tran made several attempts to force other cars off the roadway, but failed. Officals also say, he tried to hit police cars with his vehicle multiple times,

The Vinton Police Department assisted Lake Charles Police, by deflating Tran’s tires with a spike strip. However, Tran did not stop.

Finally, the police of Orange, TX, forced Tran off of Interstate 10 and onto Orange city streets, where they were able to stop him. A Lake Charles Police vehicle was hit while stopping Tran.

Tran was arrested and booked into the Orange County jail. He will be extradited back to Lake Charles, where a judge has set a bond of $80,000.

Once Tran is extradited to Lake Charles, police say he will face charges of: 2 counts of Criminal Damage to property, Aggravated Flight from an Officer (Felony), Possession of CDS IV (Xanbars) and Resisting an Officer.

Fortunately, no police officers were injured during the chase.
